The AP Tracker Micro-App provides a live view of all broadcasting APs and SSIDs, allowing you to:
- Identify rogue APs
- Verify AP locations
- Determine channel utilization
- Gain insights into Wi-Fi environment metrics
- Locate misconfigured APs
Simply start the app from the home screen, and it will begin displaying a list of detected SSIDs in real time.
Live Screen
The Live Screen provides a real-time list of all SSIDs detected in your vicinity. The default sorting order is by signal strength (dBm), with the strongest signal appearing at the top. You can scroll through the list and change the sorting order from ascending to descending by pressing (dBm) again.
Sorting Options
You can toggle between different sorting views by pressing the SSID filter button. The sorting cycle follows this order:
-
SSID (Network Name)
- First press: Ascending order
- Second press: Descending order
-
MAC (BSSID)
- Third press: Ascending order
- Fourth press: Descending order
-
Frequency (Band)
- Fifth press: Ascending order
- Sixth press: Descending order
Pressing the SSID filter button again will cycle back to SSID sorting, and you can continue toggling through the options. You can select dBm at any time to go back to sorting by dBm.
Selecting an SSID and Setting Filters
You can select any SSID from the list by long pressing on it. This will open the detailed live view, displaying in-depth information about the selected network.
Additionally, you can create filters by long pressing on any available data item within the detailed view. Once selected, the item will become highlighted, indicating that it is now an active filter.
Available Filtering Options
Each filterable item is marked with a circle on the left side of the screen. The following filtering options are available:
- Addr – Filter based on the BSSID
- SSID – Filter based on the selected network name
- Band – Filter to display only SSIDs on a specific frequency band
- Ch (Channel) – Filter by a specific channel
- Center – Filter by the center frequency of the channel
- Width – Filter by channel width
Applying and Removing Filters
To set a filter, long press on the desired item and wait for it to become highlighted.
To remove a filter, tap the “X” that appears next to the filtered item instead of the circle. This will clear the filter.
Using Filters
Once you have selected at least one filter, you can fine-tune your filter list in the Filter View.
To access it, swipe left to right to return to the home screen and select the Filter tab at the top of the screen.
Managing Filters
Under the Filter View, you will see all the filters you have selected. You can:
- Remove a specific filter
- Choose to include or exclude data using the PASS/BLOCK toggle
For example, if you filter by the 2.4 GHz band and the filter toggle reads PASS, only SSIDs broadcasting on the 2.4 GHz band will be shown. Pressing the PASS toggle changes it to BLOCK, which hides all SSIDs broadcasting on 2.4 GHz, showing only those on other bands.
Focus View
Once your filters are applied, navigate to the Focus tab to see the filtered list. Here, you can:
- Select an SSID and long press to add additional filters
- Refine your list further by applying more criteria
To clear all filters, delete them individually in the detailed view, or return to the Filter tab to remove them there.
Navigation
At any point, you can return to the previous screen from the detailed view by swiping left to right on the screen.
Additionally, you can swipe right or left on the screen to move between the Live, Filter and Focus tabs.
